The time before Christmas is Secret Santa season -
a trend that is now here to stay
There's hardly a home that the gnomes don't move into at the beginning of December, taking over every night and presenting a new surprise the next morning. In the run-up to Christmas, new ideas from the little creatures keep popping up around the little Secret Santa door.
The winter season is made a little cosier everywhere with atmospheric Secret Santa decorations and families, friends and colleagues develop real Secret Santa traditions to present small gifts.
The gnomes have also been busy in Einkochwelt and have come up with lots of gift ideas, recipes, pre-prepared gifts, stories and crafting suggestions.
This popular tradition has its origins in Sweden, where Secret Santa is called ‘Julklapp’. There, a gift is thrown into the living room on Yule (21 December) by an unknown messenger. The name of the Secret Santa itself is derived from the little fantasy creature, the gnome, who appears in many Nordic sagas with a red cap and white beard.
